Reinvigoration?

Well its a new day, a new year and a new life.

I thought I might give blogging a go again, even if it is on a slow update basis.

So whats happened? I cant recite all the things but I can describe where I am atm.

Im currently living in a house at St Lucia with 4 other guys from raymont. Our hobbies include eating meat with a side of meat and getting drunk. I am returning to uni for my third year while studying Civil Engineering and Construction management (yes thats yet another course change).

I have taken up bike riding, although I have not been for a ride in a while. Im currently single and looking and im currently wearing a flanny lol.

Im sure many other things have changed, but I think that was a pretty good overview of my life at this stage.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday Jack and Pip. Ill be seeing you both out tonight. Im willing to take bets on whether jack will get smashed or not, current odds are 1:infinity.

Yesterday I dropped a subject because I was behind and my group had still not contacted me back so I couldnt hand in an assignment worth 25%. Ill pick it up next semester and proberbly catch up with a business subject over the summer period. I then helped stacey through her accounting assignment and went and watched An inconvenient truth with jaci on the kidney lawn.

I have work today at 2 so that should be good, hope I can get a few more sign ups so I can stay on target.  Finish at 6. Eat, showered, shaved and dressed by 7, off to the regatta then to union jacks to catch the first happy hour which finishes at 9.

Work with cheese

First day of work today at 3 Mobile toowong. I worked 9 to 5:30 and I must say I enjoyed it alot. It gets fairly quiet at times but I was picking things up pretty quickly. I am making target already on my first shift of 1 signup an hour (roughly 2 a shift) which is awesome.

I also had my first ever complete standard(as in not knowing the guy who is making the burger and getting him to make you a custom burger) from McDonalds on saturday night. It was a cheese burger and I had the muchies. It was oh so good.

Must be birthday season

So many birthdays on at the moment.

Im writing this from pre-drinks at stacys party. Ill be heading from here to the RE o catch up with dane for his birthday. Then is might be off to the normanby for Kates birthday. Happy birthday to liam who also was born a while ago as of today.

Oh and shout out to the regular readers. That includes you Josh – glad your such a fan

Same olds

Nothing too interesting has been happening lately.

I had an exam on Saturday which I got 80% for which I am happy with. That night I went to a friend of Bree’s house party down the road. Got to see Meg and Robin which was good. There was a drunk there that agreed to me giving him a wedgie, so I gave him one and ripped his jocks off him. Some retard kept trying to fight me all night simply because I introduced myself to him so I tried to leave but he followed me half way to the RE. The RE itself was pretty dissapointing, certainly not a Saturday night venue. Afterwards Jack and I went to Subway and had THE best sub I had ever had: Footlong Italian BMT with Chicken Fillets and Steak, Double Cheese, Craploads of salad and southwest sauce.

Best part of the week so far would have to be going to Shays on Monday night where I cooked up some awesome fish and shay made a mean salad. Going to do it again next Monday.

Tuesday night we were going to go for a few casuals at the Regatta but it was full and there was a lineup to get in. A Lineup at the Regatta! That just does not happen!!! We ended up getting pizza and playing Pictionary.

Went to the dawn service at Anzac Square in the city. Was quite good, abit different and alot bigger then anything they have up at Boyne but thats to be expected. I managed to procrastinate the rest of the day away.

Thats about the extent of the week so far.

Open Source Rocks

Seriously, who does not like open source other then the monopolistic fat cats that own the overbearing money squandering corperations that exist for the sole reason of making the fat cats fatter.

I have been getting further and further into the open source field and apart from the odd setback here and there am loving every moment of it. Being able to use a completely free (as in beer and freedom) operating system with similiary free programs is wonderful.

At the moment I am marveling at Ubuntu 7.04, tinkering with amarok (think Windows media player on steroids), while watching commercial TV with mythtv, talking to people on msn via pidgin, when I should be doing my assignments that I have opened in OpenOffice. I can do all this completely free of cost and if I wished to I could edit the code of these programs, edit to my liking and redistribute them to my liking as long as they remain open source.

The advantages of this are huge. It means no 1 persons or groups are tied directly to the existance of a product. Anyone can come along an go: “Hey, you could improve your product by doing this”, “I can make this part of your product better”, “There is something wrong with this part, here I fixed it”; legally and to the benifit of all. Operating systems like linux have had about 2 virii ever written for them because any hole that is found and exploited by the virus can be patched by anyone around the world at anytime. Its like having millions of volenteer coders, at your disposal.

Oh and open source is not just about the ‘geeky’ world of computers. Anything can be applied to it, think about it next time you drive your Open Source Car to the shops to buy some OpenCola.

Well… thats interesting.

Well im writing this when I should be studying for my exam that is on at 8am tommorow. Going on my studying history however I may start studying tommorow morning.

Last night was interesting. Went out with Dane and Jack. They disappeared, Jack to a strip club with his mates (said it was junk) and no idea where Dane went. Saw Steph Sheilds and a few other old raymonters there. I came back at about 2 in the morning with someone else. And thats all I have to say on that matter :P

Oh and here is my rant of today: Union Jacks drink cards are now $10 a card. Up from $8 last year and $9 earlier this year. How crap!

Much of nothings

Well im back in Brisbane and continuing on my saga of procrastination and boredom. This comes after an awesome time back at home in Tannum. Was good to catch up with people, slow down a bit and just blob.

The car trip down was fairly uneventful except for the traffic on the road which was horrendous going through Gympie. It was compounded by the fact that the smart cookies at main roads realised it was holiday time so they must do roadworks in order to slow people down as much as possible.

I have been to 2 job interviews as of late. 1 was at Optus but they were looking for a full time employee, the other was at Harvey Norman which went well but I have yet to hear back from. I did however have a chat with Lindsey today about jobs and she thinks I might be able to get one in the pub at the airport so we will see how that goes.

There has been a few parties on recently. The best being the rubix cube one that the girls held at their house where I ended up a little drunk and looking like superman colours:

not bad for someone that rocked up without the superman jocks and wearing red, blue, green, yellow and white.

Went to the Normanby for a Sunday session, it was quite good but very busy.

Thats all really that has been happening. I have an exam on Saturday that I prob will not study for untill Saturday morning.

Hunny Im home!

Thats right ladies and gentlemen I am back in Tannum so feel free to invite me out to anything that you know is happening. I will be back until Friday morning.

On the way back home I managed to figure out my does 96km/h when it is reading 100km/h on the speedo. When I got back at 8pm on saturday night I saw my family for all of 45 minutes before rushing off to see what the harbor festival, Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race and Coconet classic had in store for Gladstone. I was quite impressed with many people out.

After spending a few hours at the Harbour festival, catching up with friends and watching the wet tshirt comp, we made the trip to Players where we told them where to stick there $15 cover charge and with the help of Baz just walked straight in. I ended up looking after a drunk friend and getting home at midday the next day.

Easter Sunday was taken up by reformatting my computer with Ubuntu 7.04 (which is really nice) and Windows XP and family BBQ where I got to eat some real steak and real fish HOORAY!

Monday I spent the day reformatting Ella’s computer and trying to fuck proof it against her obsession with downloading as much crap as possible onto it as well as catching up with Kate and Erin. Had a good day.

Plans for the rest of the week include lots of uni work, beach, catching up with friends and maybe a few drinks.

Oh and I would like to thank everyone who fell for my April fools (I had emails of shock, horror and even a few tearful phone calls – sorry to those who got sucked in so well but I am actully contemplating doing a short stint over there) where I managed to rack up 80 views in one day. Also here are some of the weirder terms that people have punched into search engines that have resulted in people visiting my page in the last 7 days:

  • RUM JUGS
  • south bank streets beach +sick brisbane
  • vibrator brisbane fun club

that last one disturbs me quite a bit
I leave you with a comic that brings back old memories of lower primary school.
