It was no sausage fest… yay

Last weekend I went grudgingly on an engineering camp. Grudgingly because I thought it would be boring, filled with people already in clicks and just full of guys. I was plesantly surprised to find that there was about 40% females on the trip. Some pretty good talent there too, but most of them were planners. Most of the first years were pretty immature but there were a couple of good ones in the bunch.

Anyway, it was prob the best thing I could have done for my engineering. My moral has sky rocketed because I met some people from my year and finally made some friends in engineering. Its good actually knowing people and being able to work and talk and have the same interests.

I have finally gotten up to date on my accounting so I have to choose my next subject to catch up on. Prob Materials or Stats. Accounting is not that hard, just have to remember lots of things and get your head around a few seeming illogical principals.

Oh and if anyone knows of any jobs. PLEASE tell me. I am litrally moving into self preservation mode.

Diddlidee Potato’s!

St Pats day was pretty awesome. I bit of drinking, a bit of talking, a bit of walking and lots of green HOORAY! I also saw flora DOUBLE YAY

On a side not im about half an inch from becoming broke and I have applied for a job at the 3 shop at the bottom of Queen street so fingers crossed.

I caught up with my old snow bunny Sharn the other day. Shes doing early childhood at QUT and so I went and visited her at Kelvin Grove while she was waiting for her sister. It was really great how after not seeing her for like 3 or 4 years we could just sit down and have a 2 hour conversation. I also went out with her and a few of her work mates to the “Vale” near her place. Was a great night and had loads of fun.

Bloody OLT maintainence.

Well I am supposed to be studying for a MAB233 (Statistics) mini exam but QUT, yes the University of Technology has still not worked out how to do live maintenance on their servers to prevent down time. But I suppose it gives me a while to pump out a post which I have not done in a while.

Last time I wrote I was packing to head to Brisbane. Well I stopped packing at about 3 that morning and then got up at 7 and continued packing. I literally finished packing and left straight away. The journey was pretty good. I hit Brisbane in about 5 hours which people should know is making pretty good time.

I proceeded to Erins house where I managed to get my car acting like a see saw on her driveway (I hate your driveway Erin) and unpacked all my stuff. We went and got some flowers and some wine for my valentines day surprise while meeting up with Shay. We cooked dinner, I prepared some delectables to eat and had a good old chat about everything and anything.

Later that night near midnight I climbed up a wall and onto the back patio of Jaci’s house where I was greeted by my accomplice Pip who let me in. I surprised Jaci, gave her her flowers and went to sleep. I did have some plans for the early morning but the forecast said it would be miserable so I decided to forget it and sleep in.

We woke up, drove down to Kingscliff and dropped Pip at Bens place before proceeding back up to the Gold Coast and staying a few nights there. It was great, shopping, swimming, beaching and eating seafood. Just what I felt like before hitting uni again.

I come back to Brisbane and collect my stuff from Erin and dump it all in my room. Had to pack my bags that night to head to O weekend with Raymont. That was an interesting experience getting drunk on RED goon (never again) and then trying to do the high ropes course with a hangover.

So Raymont has been pretty good, I’m really happy with my unit this year. Most of the freshers are pretty good but seem to be pretty soft when it comes to partying. Lets hope that changes. The worst thing about this year is that Raymont has decided to place a 1GB cap on downloads. Yes 1GB. Thats bullshit. A fresh install of Windows or Linux needs at least 250MB of updates and various drivers and what not would easily pull 400MB. Oh don’t forget if you have video lectures your pretty much screwed. I calculated that if I downloaded nothing but video lectures (which were compulsory) for my Electrical unit that I had last year, I would have run out of download in 2 weeks. Im going to take this up with management soon and I think I have a shot because last year they did not have a download limit so I presumed it would be the same this year. They did not tell us of the limit until O weekend. All it says on the Raymont website is they provide access to Internet with unlimited hours. Says nothing about downloads, which to me if they don’t tell me means there is no limit.

Uni is crap. They are stuffing me around to no end. I have had 2 double bookings now about my course and they conveniently forgot to tell me about them releasing the course that I wanted to get into half a year early. I also had to wait until 4:30 for my 2:15 booking at their medical center too. In regards to my units:

MAB233 – seems pretty easy, more annoying then anything. I need to get into a group but I know no-one.

ENB101 – Mechanics, my fav subject at the moment. Hope it does not get too hard

ENB104 – Materials, pretty much Chemistry… eww

BSB110 – Accounting, bloody confusing… apparently a Asset is a debit account.
